THE 11TH EUROPA DONNA PAN-EUROPEAN CONFERENCE “ENSURING QUALITY SERVICES AND EQUAL ACCESS” UNITES BREAST CANCER ADVOCATES FROM ACROSS EUROPE EUROPA DONNA – The European Breast Cancer Coalition’s 11th Pan-European Conference brought together more than 250 breast cancer advocates and specialists from 37 countries in Prague, Czech Republic, on 19 and 20 October, where a European Commission high representative assured them that progress is being made toward EU breast cancer service accreditation. Breast Health Day: from Spain to Tajikistan, from Israel to Sweden, a day dedicated to the breast health of women worldwide Leading up to the sixth annual Breast Health Day, which will take place on 15 October 2013, EUROPA DONNA – The European Breast Cancer Coalition once again has organised an international campaign to convince women and young girls to take care of their breasts by making healthy choices in their day-to-day life. A growing body of evidence shows the link between healthy lifestyle choices and a lower risk of developing breast cancer.1 According to these studies, excess body weight and physical inactivity deserve special attention, since they account for 25-33 percent of all breast cancer cases (see the infographic video)1. EUROPA DONNA – THE EUROPEAN BREAST CANCER COALITION TO HOLD BREAST HEALTH DAY INFORMATION EVENT AT EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT ON 15 OCTOBER EUROPA DONNA – The European Breast Cancer Coalition, in collaboration with Ruban de l’Espoir – Ribbon of Hope and other organisations, is holding its annual Breast Health Day Information Day event at the European Parliament on 15 October. The aim is to spread the Breast Health Day message ‘Make Good Choices for your Breast Health’ to parliamentarians and other policy makers so that women of all ages are aware of the benefits lifestyle choices can have on their future breast health. The President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, has expressed full EU support of this event by offering it the “high patronage” of the European Parliament. Official speeches will be given by the President or his representatives on 15 October.
