2nd Europa Donna Metastatic Breast Cancer Advocacy Conference 7-8 June 2019 – Milan, Italy

EUROPA DONNA – The European Breast Cancer Coalition is dedicated to giving people with metastatic breast cancer the tools to advocate for best practices that address the unique needs of those living with the disease. Building on the 1st MBC Advocacy Conference held in June 2017 and the 1st MBC Advocacy Training Course held September 2018, we are pleased to announce that EUROPA DONNA will hold its 2nd EUROPA DONNA MBC Advocacy Conference 7-8 June 2019 in Milan. The conference will be open to approximately 50 MBC advocacy leaders from EUROPA DONNA as well as from other organisations. Their travel and subsistence costs will be paid by EUROPA DONNA.*
The 2nd MBC Advocacy Conference will involve a weekend-long exchange of ideas, experience and best practice. On Friday, an Opening Session will kick off the event followed by dinner and networking. Saturday will begin with speeches regarding treatment and research specific to MBC, psychosocial support, benefits of physical activity and nutrition for women living with MBC.  The afternoon will include a Panel Session on Advocacy for insurance/financial issues, return to work/legal issues, using support groups and psychological counseling services for patients and partners.  This will be followed by a World Cafè where participants can discuss the topics covered in the panel. Feedback from the return to work survey done in September 2018 will also be provided.
Conference participants will be selected on a competitive basis. In order to apply, full applications should be submitted by 15 April 2019 to conference@europadonna.org and should include the following:
1. Completed application form
2. A photo of yourself
3. A short abstract (400 words) outlining your background including work and volunteer experience as well as current MBC activities and why attending this meeting would be important to your future advocacy work
After the conference, each participant will be asked to provide a summary of next steps and a report after three months on work undertaken as a result of the conference.
Successful applicants will be notified by 30 April 2019 and will be automatically registered for the conference.

EUROPA DONNA will directly cover the cost of two nights at the Double Tree by Hilton (Friday 7 June and Saturday 8 June) for each participant. Any additional nights will need to be paid directly by said participant. Travel costs will be reimbursed after the event upon presentation of original receipts, airline tickets, boarding pass, train tickets etc. Round trip taxis will only be reimbursed to/from the hotel to Linate airport and to/from Cadorna train station. Those arriving at Malpensa airport should take the Malpensa Express train to Cadorna and then proceed to the hotel by taxi.
