Collaboration in Action: Europa Donna at the Cancer and Innovation Summit in Armenia

Together with other experts and ED Greece President Fiorita Poulakaki, Europa Donna’s President Stella Mastora and CEO Marzia Zambon were invited to speak at the Cancer and Innovation Summit organised by Europa Donna Armenia, which took place in Yerevan over the weekend of 18 and 19 April.

It was an honour to be welcomed by the Armenian Ministry of Health and by the Mayor of Yerevan. The meetings with national and local authorities were very constructive, focusing on practical ways to strengthen awareness, screening, and early detection: key pillars for improving outcomes for breast cancer patients in Armenia.  Screening programmes are running across the regions of the country but participation is still low and awareness that early detection is a real game changer is very much needed.
A special and heartfelt thank you to Nvard Kocharyan, National Representative and Delegate for ED Armenia, whose leadership over the past 12 years has been instrumental in building a strong and active advocacy community in the country.

Our President Stella Mastora, our CEO Marzia Zambon, former Vice President Fiorita Poulakaki, as well as Dr. George Marios Makris and Prof. Philip Poortmans contributed as speakersand then panelists during the entire morning session of the conference that saw more than 140 participants.   

We truly hope that the work carried out during this visit will make a meaningful difference for breast cancer patients in Armenia, and we look forward to continuing this important collaboration.
