Europa Donna at the World Cancer Series Europe 2026

On 8th and 9th June, Mirela Roman, Executive Board Member of Europa Donna Coalition and President of Europa Donna Brussels, participated in the 11th Annual World Cancer Series Europe held in Brussels by The Economist, a yearly appointment for top notch policymakers, public health experts, medical societies and patient organisations.

Dr. Roman, breast and gynaecological cancer surgeon at UMC Sint-Pieter – CHU Saint-Pierre in Brussels and Special Adviser to the European Commission, contributed her expertise to a key panel discussion on the future of cancer care in Europe: “Lessons from Progress in Breast Cancer Care in Europe.” This panel explored strategies to reduce risk and improve outcomes: Dr. Roman noted that “for cancer patients, time is life. Every unnecessary delay has a human cost” so “Prevention, early detection, and timely access to treatment remain the most effective ways to improve outcomes and reduce costs”.

We are proud to see Europa Donna represented in these important European conversations on breast cancer care and cancer control.
