Europa Donna Contributes to EU HTA Stakeholder Discussions

Europa Donna Vice President Ingrid Krücken represented the Coalition at the EU HTA Stakeholder Network meeting, held on 23 June in Brussels and hosted by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE).

The meeting focused on the ongoing implementation of the EU Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Regulation, including updates on Joint Clinical Assessments (JCAs), Joint Scientific Consultations (JSCs), and stakeholder experiences from the first year of implementation.

Ahead of the meeting, Europa Donna joined 14 European patient organisations at the European Patients’ Forum (EPF) to develop and sign a joint statement reflecting on the first Joint Clinical Assessment conducted under the new EU HTA Regulation.

The statement welcomes the progress made in strengthening patient and carer involvement throughout the HTA process, while highlighting opportunities for further improvement. These include earlier and more structured patient involvement, greater transparency on how patient input informs assessments, increased focus on outcomes that matter most to patients—such as quality of life—and clearer communication of JCA results across all EU languages.

Europa Donna remains committed to ensuring that patient voices are meaningfully integrated into European HTA processes and to supporting the successful implementation of the EU HTA Regulation across Europe.
