Europa Donna Member Countries

Europa Donna membership is open to European countries as defined by the World Health Organisation as well as to any country that is a potential candidate for admission to the European Union. Each member country has a National Forum that works autonomously within the European framework, selecting those aims it wishes to prioritise from within the Ten Goals of Europa Donna. There are currently 47 country members in the Coalition.

In April, ED Serbia’s Sara Bojanić co-chaired Europa Donna’s Second Roundtable of 2024: Social Media Training Course – Importance of an Online Presence for Breast Cancer Advocacy

In May, Second Regional Oncology Congress “I Can Do It” for Breast and Cervical Cancer Patients held in Belgrade, organized by the “Woman with Woman” association. Dedicated to breast and cervical cancer patients, this congress featured renowned experts and included a session focused on the importance of genetics, with President of Europa Donna Serbia as a featured speaker.

In September, Race for the Cure – With Every Step, We Support Each Other

In October, Regional Project “Mom, Be Healthy” campaign, in which students from four Belgrade schools distributed 3,850 educational leaflets advocating regular breast examinations for early cancer detection.

In May – September, Pink Gift of Attention 2024 – Together We Can Do More, distributing 1,200 support packages to women receiving breast cancer treatment. During these visits, Europa Donna Serbia representatives engaged personally with patients undergoing chemotherapy, offering both expert information and words of encouragement.

At the annual May run for women in Tallinn, teamed up with TV3 life to invite women to attend a breast exam in our mammography bus; this year 70 women took part

In May, held our annual breast cancer prevention and information campaigns which included press releases, newspaper articles, radio and TV programs

October 14^th campaign focused on metastatic breast cancer including the airing of a special video clip on this topic

Annual cancer patient retreat took place August 16th – 18^th. This is the highlight event of the year for many cancer patients and survivors

In September, the Estonian Cancer Society’s new mobile computed tomography unit was completed and tested; it is expected to go into service in early 2025. This unit will be joining our fleet of mobile cancer screening and diagnostic units alongside our mammography bus, our skin cancer diagnostic unit and our diagnostic unit for cancers specific to males.

Highlights of 2020

An online study involving 1,800 patients sharing worries, fears and complications relating to COVID-19. Scientific organisations’ recommendations – World Health Organisation (WHO), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) were shared with patients. The results of the study were shared with the medical community to stimulate the dialogue between doctors and patients.

Developing a system of recommendations for cancer patients, in cooperation with the Bulgarian Oncological Scientific Society, through YouTube video appeals by key multidisciplinary specialists and the social media profiles of famous artists, musicians, journalists who support the scientific approach in understanding COVID-19.
